"Fire Island AK is first with the industrial nightmare of 'Ego Sum Damno,' a sprawling multi-part noise epic that begins with the repetitive screech and squeal of broken-down gears and ancient machinery, then moves into a field of mechanical drones that drips with an atmosphere of unease and cold dread even as it lulls the listener into a heavy-lidded trance state through its use of rumbling locomotive reverberations. Over the latter half of the track, some eerie machine whine, simple drum patterns, random cymbal crashes, and what sounds like a pack of ravenous feral dogs appear, but it eventually returns to the cold, dead sputter of a rusted engine by the end.
The response from Richard Ramirez on the following side is not as overtly brutal as I might have expected, at least not at first. His track, cryptically titled 'Dawson Loves His Cock,' [sic.] initially appears with crashing waves of soft fuzzy static that is somewhat reminiscent of what I've been hearing lately from his Werewolf Jerusalem project. Over the course of the track's twenty two minutes, this swirling soft wall of static undergoes subtle changes in direction and movement that are barely perceptible, until some heavier density sheets of static materialize about halfway through. It's the sound of acid rain from within the center of the storm. It's the soft hiss of ashfall after the bombs have dropped. It's absolutely empty." -- CRUCIAL BLAST
